ABOUT

With a curiosity for honest eating, thinking and drinking, austa is a restaurant, coffee shop, kitchen and community with a connection to the land in the Algarve, Southern Portugal.

Our mission is to provide a platform for the small, independent projects and producers of the Atlantic and Andalusian coasts; quality-driven minds who provide us with seasonal ingredients and stories that we are proud to talk about and that we feel represent a better future for food, both in our region and beyond.

Eat
The menu at austa shifts and evolves with the seasons crop and catch - led always by provenance and the purpose of simplicity. To add to our purveyors lot, the bounty of our vegetable garden - planted and freshly picked by the team before service - is handed to the kitchen and combined to create plates to share that are influenced by our surroundings, experiences and memories of good food. Drink
Working with a small number of specialist suppliers and winemakers across Portugal and nearby Spain, we seek to source characterful, small batch and low intervention wines for our list that changes with our menu. To keep things fresh, fun and interesting, we always have bottles open so you (and we) can sample new additions, old classics and rare finds.

Infused cocktail and cordial additions, like our food, are led by the seasons to highlight foraged and house-grown ingredients, also offering refreshing, hangover alternatives for booze-free friends. [Sample Menu]
Reservations
From Tuesday to Saturday we are open for breakfast and lunch from our simple café menu served from 09.30 until 14:30, with drinks and snacks from our bar menu served until 17.00. We re-open for dinner each evening from 19:00. Walk-ins are accepted but we recommend reserving a table to avoid disappointment.

For groups of 7+, we work with a set menu option only, priced at €65 per person (beverages not included). The surprise menu is chosen for you by us and is a set of sharing plates that best tell the story of austa and our producers. It is curated on the day based on our current menu, taking into account any of your group's dietary restrictions, which must be communicated on your booking. For more information please read our terms & conditions.

We welcome children of all ages for breakfast and lunch. Babes in arms and children aged 7 and over are welcome to join us for dinner, but sadly we are unable to accommodate children aged 7 and under.

We can host group bookings of 13 people + as well as private events and celebrations - for requests please contact eat@austa.pt.

Pantry
The pantry at austa is filled with concoctions that are conjured in our very own kitchen - conserves, preserves and ferments made from seasonal ingredients that change based on what our cooks are using daily. There are curiosities, cookbooks and ceramics as well as bottles from our hand curated collection of wine available to pop open at home or take to a dinner party.

Both digital and physical gift vouchers are available for the restaurant and our pantry. To purchase please contact us with your enquiry to eat@austa.pt.
